From March 25 to 29, Mr. Liu, Chief Engineer of the Fifth Business Division of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), led a four-member team to conduct a five-day Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on the 2x450MW Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Power Plant project in Koh Kong Province, Cambodia, undertaken by our company. This inspection was carried out in joint collaboration with a five-member expert panel from Electricite du Cambodge (EDC).
In the face of the stringent demands that hot and humid environments place on equipment insulation, corrosion resistance, and seismic performance, our quality and technical teams worked in close collaboration with the client. From enclosure protection rating inspections to power frequency withstand voltage tests on the main circuit, and from logic interlocking tests of secondary protection devices to the stability verification of the five-prevention interlocking system, every step was strictly executed in accordance with international IEC standards and Cambodia's specific technical specifications.
Ultimately, our products achieved a "first-time pass with full compliance," with actual test data exceeding the contractual requirements, thereby earning the high trust of Cambodian leaders. The Chief Engineer of CMEC praised the team, stating: "This team has demonstrated the rigorous and efficient style of Chinese manufacturing."
This project is of profound significance, marking our company's first venture into the large-scale gas turbine combined cycle power plant sector. With a single-unit capacity of 450MW and a total installed capacity of 900MW, it can be described as a "giant" among overseas power plants of the same class. As Cambodia's first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) power plant, upon completion, the project is expected to generate a quarter of the country's total annual electricity. It will greatly alleviate the power shortages in the capital, Phnom Penh, and the coastal economic zones. Furthermore, it serves as a crucial milestone in Cambodia's goal to achieve a 70% clean energy share by 2030, and stands as a model of industrial capacity cooperation between China and Cambodia.
The successful completion of this acceptance test signifies that our products are fully qualified to serve the high-end international market. Moving forward, we will continue to uphold the philosophy that "quality is the lifeblood of the enterprise," deepen our footprint in markets along the Belt and Road Initiative, and contribute greater momentum to global energy development.
